About Us
Geared for Growing's owner, Richard Plaxco, started
as a gardener. He worked in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Luis Obispo,
relocating to Sonoma County 20 years ago. Geared for Growing was started
in Santa Rosa in 1983. He has been interested in design, architecture,
nature and especially gardens through out the world, traveling to Canada, Mexico, France, Italy, Austria,
Holland, Turkey, Japan and visiting most of the great gardens of California
as well as hundreds of private estates.
After studying horticulture, and receiving a degree from Cal Poly in San
Luis Obispo for landscape design, he began designing gardens in southern
California. He eventually relocated to Sonoma County, having designed
and installed more than several hundred gardens to date.
Geared for Growing has won over 50 awards since being in Sonoma County.
Richard's goal is to build a high quality landscape everytime.
